Haas EC-1600 Horizontal Machining Centre

A rugged 50-taper machining centre with 1,626 x 1,270 x 813 mm xyz travels, 1,626 x 914 mm table and 6000-rpm, geared-head spindle, the EC-1600 features massive cast-iron construction. Extensive internal ribbing on the castings increases rigidity and damps vibrations.

The standard T-slot table holds parts weighing up to 4,500 kg. The spindle, with a 2-speed geared head, is powered by a 30-hp vector drive system, providing 450 ft-lb of torque for heavy cutting. Other standard features include a 30+1 side-mount tool changer, as well as a USB port, remote jog handle, 1 MB program memory and a user-definable second Home button.

The EC-1600 comes with a full enclosure that includes dual chip augers and a coolant system with 80-gallon capacity. The enclosure has two wide doors and an open roof design, to allow access to the table via overhead crane.

An optional 5-degree indexer can be fitted for machining all four sides of a workpiece in one setup. The indexer uses a face gear coupler design, providing superior accuracy and extreme rigidity for off-centre milling and drilling/tapping operations. With a 762 mm platter diameter and 4,500 kg weight capacity, the indexer easily positions very large parts to nearly any angle for machining. A full 4th-axis platter is also available, for high-speed contouring and fully interpolated motion. Many other high-productivity options are also available.
